About Providence House

Providence House Youth Club is a Christian youth charity in Battersea, south London. It was founded in 1963 by Elizabeth Braund, who opened a disused chapel near Clapham Junction to local young people, and has worked from its youth centre at 138 Falcon Road, London SW11 2LW, since 1970. Providence House runs a youth club, girls-only sessions, football, mentoring, schools work and detached outreach for young people aged 8 to 19, as well as trips to its residential centre, East Shallowford Farm in Devon. Registered charity number 1181473.

Sixty years on Falcon Road

A youth club that began when one woman opened a chapel door to boys kicking footballs at it, and is still open five days a week.

From Battersea to the Premier League

Former members include professional footballers, among them a Premier League player and Jamaica international, alongside tradespeople and an estate warden on Dartmoor.

A farm for city kids

Since 1976, East Shallowford Farm in Devon has given young people from Battersea fresh air, responsibility and a glimpse of life beyond the city.

Youth work on the streets

A new detached and outreach team meets young people in the Falconbrook and Battersea Park wards, where they already spend their time.

Young people with a say

Our Youth Advisory Group helps shape our programmes and run community events such as the Battersea Community Festival.
